What equipments (tools) do I need to start a digital photo lab? - digital photo calendar

Hello everyone, I need your help. Who knows what kind of printer, ink and paper, I make my own digital darkroom? I am a freelance photographer and I want to print and sell photos at once. I want a small part of the new studies are open to my own printer for the recordings. I also wanted to calendars and cards, which I have no idea to be used over the nature of the documents. Perhaps these printers are expensive, but it does not bother me. When someone answered some advice, plz be happy to. Thanx a lot. Bye:)

There are some striking printers, which can make very large prints that are virtually archives. I think their target audience is the photographers and agencies require that prints up to 20 x 24 or more for large prints and calendars and postcards sheet. Most printers have the ability to use large external ink reservoirs to draw the ink to the various heads of inkjet printers.

Could be in vain With Sam's Club and Costco (and other), the photo prints from digital images for less than the cost of ink and paper with them from competitors.

In the world of art Epson (Pro 9800 ... ... About $ 6000 less than what some are pro DSLR bodies), and paper is the norm, even though there may be special printers that are made that, for the printing market tall. WFP has a lot of them on the screen the last time I visited was the convention. His next one is in Las Vegas in March this year.

This should begin to prepare a budget for your new business.

Probably depends on the size of the prints and what kind of quality they wish to offer.

Many professionals, such as a small business for most of Epson Stylus printers to print. Epson inks are known for the longevity of the files, but are very expensive. With Epson, also has a good selection of Epson or 3rd-party documents. An Epson Stylus Pro 3800 can print from any 4x6 to 17x22. If you expect high volume printing, you can also consider a continuous supply of ink (CIS), which essentially replaces the ink cartridge with a feed from a bottle. Ultimately, this will ultimately much cheaper. The disadvantage of the CIS is the need to clean if it is not in use, otherwise clog. But if you ever pressure is less of a problem. Think you check out whether your printer is an option from the CIS countries can accept if you go this route.

My guess is that most customers do not need large quantities and it may consider there is no need for a printer from the large, in this case, one of Epson's less (or royalties) to buy. If you have a leaflet:t is to print extremely high, you can outsource, a local digital lab ... LightJet printers are really nice there, that most people can afford to own. See link below sample.

If you do not your customers the quality, as mentioned above, expect (ie, I want to) only the equivalent of a Costco and Wal-Mart for printing, you should consider outsourcing to focus the print to another person and only on photography and editing . Shutterfly has a professional service for professional photographers, where customers upload photos (and edited using Photoshop) and Shutterfly, and will distribute copies. As a photographer, you will determine the prices, while Shutterfly charges for their services. I think this is a big step in the quality of Wal-Mart / Costco ... especially if you service reworking.

If you are a beginner, and you do not know what your books, I recommend you start small and work the way you get a better idea of the quantities and the needs and expectations of customers. Even before reaching thisYou should check what the customer wants to go after the mass market (low or high quality niche). The last thing we want is to invest in expensive equipment that is not used in full, or if you have customers who are not the quality and cost that does not appreciate placed on them relative to the end.

Hope this helps
